Conditions to obtain a Class 3 Straight-body Truck driver's licence:
Basic Requirements:
- Applicants must have fewer than 4 demerit points entered on their driving record;
- Not have had their driver's licence suspended or revoked during the two previous years as a result of accumulating demerit points or a driving-related Criminal Code offence;
- Pass the SAAQ's vision test;
- Submit a satisfactory medical report;
- Pass the knowledge test
- And pass the 2 road tests
Experience Required:
- The applicant must have 24 months cumulative experience as a holder of a Class 5 licence (passenger vehicle)
Course Description:
After meeting the basic requirements, applicants can register for a Class 3 driving course at Trans-Canada.
Step 1 - After registering for the course, applicant begin with theoretical practice. A number of hours must be completed in order to ensure the right preparation for the exam and the road practice. Instructors provide assistance whenever needed and the theory is done partially online.
Step 2 - After successfully completing the theoretical part and acquiring your Learner's Permit, we proceed to the road practice. Students are given a number of observation hours during which they observe the instructor performing certain tasks along with pre-trip inspection.
Step 3 - When the observation has been completed, here comes the driving. Students spend numerous hours on the road, driving in rural and urban areas in order to prepare themselves for independent use of the road network. Step by step instructions are provided starting from 1st gear all the way to the final preparation for the road exam at SAAQ.
